Paris 1952. 125 (3) pp. Plates and ill. in text. Original wrappers. Unopened and in good condition. With the original girdle: "Ceci est un effort pour comprendre Camus".
¶ First controversial issue (Februray 1952) of this French art and litterature journal, discussing the concept of revolt and Camus' L'Homme révolté in particular. Camus refused to let the editors publish his polemic aginst Andre Breton, as well as to contribute to the discussion in Le Soleil Noir. The editors do little to hide their contempt. With contributions amongst many others by: Jean Granier, Antonin Artaud (Lettre a Andre Breton), Lautreamont, De Sade, Garcia Lorca, Hans Bellmer, Max Ernst, Julien Gracq, Georges Bataille, Luigi Pirandello and many others. Good old modernist fighting!
